Working with Visiting Artists & Practicing Creatives
Counterproof Press regularly collaborates with professional artists, designers, poets, and interdisciplinary makers—often through UConn’s visiting artist program, the Contemporary Art Galleries, or special projects across campus. While here, artists partner with us to create work that extends their studio or writing practice into print: limited editions, experimental publications, broadsides, artist books, or objects that push at the edge of form. Projects are often produced in-house at the UConn Print Shop or in collaboration with the Digital Art Services Lab (DASL), using a range of analog and digital processes.
Each collaboration is different—but what ties them together is our commitment to care, craft, and dialogue. These editions are built with intention and meant to carry the artist’s voice into new spaces, whether through distribution, exhibition, or archive.
Past collaborators include:
-
Odette England – archival pigment print exploring photography and consent
-
Sharon Butler – residency edition of etchings
-
Michael Menchaca & Suzy González – limited edition fine art print and public presentation
-
Michael Levine – limited edition fine art print and public lecture
-
Rebecca Morgan – collaborative project during her visit to Counterproof Press
These projects often fold in student participation through workshops, class visits, and open studio days—offering a window into professional artistic practice and the collaborative print process. Interested in proposing a project or learning more? Contact Us!
